Back from creative hiatus, I've only been in the office for a week and it's lovely to reconnect.

Funny thing, no sooner than I got back then I received a GREAT invitation to share a time-share vacation in Maui - one of my favorite places in the world. I had to do a little stretching..."I've just come back from a month away - can I just pack my bikini and credit cards and go, really??"

I leave in the morning, ever more grateful for this enchanted life of mine, in which I'm supported to seize the moment, contribute to the world, earn more than enough, and feel good doing it all.

Two emails arrived today saying "Andrea, I heard you are ill...are you okay?" Goodness, news travels fast.

Without indulging in the details too much, let me say that yes, I'm well although I do have some stuff going on. I've decided to use my time in Maui to snorkel my fool head off (get distracted) as well as make a final decision about surgery to remove two large fibroids which have been growing and interfering with our plans to have kids (take a deep breath.)

Surgery to remove the fibroids is a big deal - 2-3 months preparatory hormone treatments and six weeks recovery. No guarantee the fibroids won't recur, and no guarantee that we'll be able to conceive. (All the plumbing is supposedly in order now but it feels really irresponsible to try to conceive without addressing the fibroids and have the baby compete with them for nourishment. They are 9 and 5 centimeters.)

I'm told the alternative to surgery is 'leave the fibroids alone' and try to conceive. Pursue some holistic therapies like acupuncture and traditional chinese herbal medicine (they can't hurt.) Fibroids are inherently benign but can grow so big that side effects become really inconvenient...

So the last two weeks have found me mentally flipping a coin and watching it land on its edge - surgery, no surgery; try to conceive, adopt. It's been a great exercise in embracing chaos, and learning to love not knowing what to do. If you guessed there's lots more quiet time, meditating and just napping in my life right now, you'd be right. And lots of thinking about what's to happen next.

Perhaps the coin landing on its edge means 'yes to all.' Which is where I'm at for the moment. Yes to acupuncture, yes to surgery, yes to conceiving and yes to adoption. Let the arms of the Universe support me in all ways...receive, receive, receive.

So that's it in a nutshell. Thanks for your anticipated well-wishes which I won't see until I'm back in a week. The people who support me so much every day in business and life command me to be email free, so I shall. :-)

Once I'm back I'll decide in what ways to further streamline and automate work...and proceed with some juicy no-pressure writing projects. Existing client work will joyfully continue uninterrupted as will the teaching commitments and joint ventures I'm in the thick of...just nothing much new for a touch.

And...lest you be worried, let me assure you - no this won't be turning into a fertility blog although I'm sure my writing will take on some of these new flavors in the pursuit of money and meaning transparently with your company. My goal is to remain as useful and enjoyable as ever!

Here's a tip for those times in your life when you too may be embracing some sort of chaos: try Pema Chodron's 'Comfortable with Uncertainty.' She is a true gift for ordinary times and upside down times both.

Andrea,
Deciding to have, or not have, surgery is a big deal. Best wishes as you and you two make that decision. And if you have a big decision to make, why not make it in Maui?

Dearest Andrea, you are Love, you are Loved and you are Loving yourself into a new shape. What a wonderful and brave post to put out to the world - and giving a voice to the many women going through this same process. You were always on the edge though! I was just re-watching "The Secret" as I read this and had paused the video to write. The quote up on the screen, literally is:

"Whatever the mind of man can conceive, it can achieve." - W. Clement Stone

Or the mind of woman, for that matter. Even more so. Glowing and beautiful waves of health and happiness to you precious! *Enjoy* your email-freeness... ;-)

Now let there be open space for everything you want.

Now let there be wholeness.

And in the journey let there be joy.
