It was a pleasure to present "The Coaching Electric," a 90-minute breakout session at the International Coach Federation Annual Conference last Saturday.

In it, we focussed on the observations I've made about where Coaching and Technology intersect.

The main thesis of this piece was how, when used in a considered way, technology has the power to call forth leadership and that truly, with technology, we have no excuse - we can coach the entire world.

One caveat: this is not a presentation about the next, shiny-new, whiz-bangiest technology, so if that's what you're looking for, allow me to disappoint you in advance. ;-)

Instead, it is about how the technologies that we're already using, that we're surrounded in, can be maximized in ways that can extend your reach and impact as a Coach.

Thank you to all who attended and who have been sending me email. If you have questions or further comment here, feel free to comment below. I'll be posting all my personal speaker notes, slides, and other commentary including the 4 case studies (online video clips, screen shots, etc.) here very shortly (target by Monday November 13), so please stay tuned.

Email this post to a friend.

Dear Andrea

I attended your breakout session on The Coaching Electric. Much against my inclination, I now know I’m going to have to start a blog. So aaargh and thank you.

I loved the rest of your presentation too. I just want to skip the bit where I have to learn how to think in a more Electric way.

Best

Hi Andrea,
It was so great to meet you at the conference.
I was really impressed with your Coach Electric presentation. I love that you focus on the simple aspects. Some times I get so submersed in the technology that I forget how easy it can be!

At the same time, I think video is the future because it can convey the emotional nature of this work. And personally I’m working with a client through a web cam and he loves it because it keeps him centered and focused.

I’m looking forward to talking to you more about the beta! [...] I really believe that this community has the potential to bring coaching into the main stream.

Talk to you soon!

Very interesting and informative - I've been working on my Pink Spoon website non-stop and it's stretched my brain no end - and now I'm excited about starting a blog!

Part of my dilemma prior to this was that there were several areas I specialize in and I wasn't sure how to present myself in so many arenas.

Your approach is helping a great deal. I look forward to growing and helping others grow! Thanks, Andrea --

Hi Andrea,

Just attended your excellent Coaching Electric call (12/5/06). Thank you for the nudge to think bigger (you do this so well) . . . and for illustrating ways to take action with the bigger ideas.

Many thanks,
Sharon
