If 1000 people signed up for your Pink Spoon, and 10 bought your ebook, should you work harder on increasing Pink Spoon signups or ebook purchases?
If (out of 2500 people) 1000 bought a $25 product and of those, 8 signed up for one on one coaching but NO ONE bought your $147 product, what should you do?
If you have 2 great months of sales, and then a month of nearly nothing, gasp, what's going on? This Multiple Streams Workgroup led by Andrea Lee and guest Associate Multiple Streams Coach will help you answer these, and the myriad other questions surrounding what your numbers (or metrics) are trying to tell you in your business.

"....of course, you visit your friends and relatives, generally bringing along a bag of oranges, because ju, the Chinese word for "orange," sounds like the word for "good luck."
(Note: Oranges are the Chinese New Year equivalent to Christmas fruitcake. Because everyone is going from house to house visiting people, bringing oranges with them, 99.9 percent of these oranges never actually get eaten -- instead, they're transferred from household to household in an endless cycle of re-gifting until they become desiccated, fossilized lumps. A friend of mine once speculated that there is, in fact, only one bag of oranges in the Chinese community.)"

Whether we are coaches, business owners, clients or customers, we are driven by things that mostly go overlooked. As we go about our daily work inspiring, impacting and generally doing good...I know you're as interested as I am in the roots of 'why' things go as they do.
So as you take a look at this document, I invite you to do several things. First, print a copy to have at your fingertips, here:
http://www.msoci.com/whywedowhatwedo.pdf
Then...
(1) Think about one thing that you're stuck on, at this moment, and read the list asking 'which item(s) on this list might be why I'm stuck?' If you hit on an answer that rings true, try going a step further: 'Knowing this may be the 'why' that's keeping me in this spot, what can I choose to do about it?
(2) Think about one of your clients or customers. Or picture in your mind a group of your clients - maybe it's your whole market, be it accountants, career changers or work at home moms. Ask "Which item(s) on this list colors this person (or this group?)
Then ask "How does this help me serve them?"
Which points on this list hit you as 'most true' for you right now?
Thank you to Donna Steinhorn who asked this question today:
"What ****specific**** things can you use a Virtual Assistant for?"
Here are a few suggestions:
Thanks to everyone who participated in today's tele-presentations, I enjoyed spending that time with both groups.
The Association of Coaching Excellence with Donna Steinhorn and Julia Stewart was particularly fun because Donna and Julia have a way of asking the tougher questions, don't they? :-)
And the Minnesota Coaches Association hosted by Paula Hemming and Bev Lutz was very informative for me as well, because the group very quickly wanted to move onto advanced concepts such as how to build a membership website and how to drive the best traffic to your Pink Spoons.
Kudos to all, I hope the time was as useful and enjoyable to you.
Here is the set of notes promised:

Based on what you heard today, I welcome you to post the biggest thing you got and what you think you'd like to do about it, OR, the biggest remaining question you have about making money and meaning sustainably...just use the comments link below.
Cheers!
What does the statement "Make Meaning and Money, Sustainably" mean to you?
My coach argued with me that Meaning should come first, not Money, in this business tagline. Your thoughts on "Make Money and Meaning Sustainably" versus "Make Meaning and Money Sustainably"...perhaps a who cares?
What is the biggest difficulty you (or your coaching clients) experience creating meaningful lives while earning a living?
Do you think you (or your coaching clients) really want passive income? Why do (you think) some of them say they do but act like they don't?
What really matters to you this month?
Are you eagerly planning a membership site for your niche market? Membership sites are true contenders for the *most* enjoyable way to earn leveraged coaching income...as evidenced by our own walking of the talk, here at MSOCI. :-)

I'd like to take a moment to dedicate this issue of 'Creating What Matters' to my business partner-in-crime Tina Forsyth. Tina and I have been up to no-good at all for several years, building six and seven figure businesses in and outside the coaching industry (businesses of our own as well as other peoples, we are known to be a little nutty).
This year, however is different. Oh we have lots of growth planned in various new niche markets and are *most* delighted to be hiring more coaches to add to the business family, but there's a completely different reason I'm dedicating this issue to Tina:
Tina and Dan will be having their first baby in March.
I don't know about you but most of my friends and associates are deciding NOT to have children, so this is the first baby in my immediate chosen family.
Click here to see the feet that are probably wiggling right now...Tina, does it tickle or what??

Needless to say this will be a true test of our business working for us, not the other way around, and we look forward to sharing with you how it goes as we make our way. Those of you who've gone before us, we take our hats off to you and look forward to your wisdom too.
It's the beginning of a new year and my spidey senses are twitching: I think it's going to be a meaty and creative one for our industry.
It feels as though the 'pendulum' is 'hanging breathless' in that moment before it swings back down in an arc, you know that moment right? Almost imperceptible, but there.
After so much focus on marketing and products last year, many of us are well on our way to multiple products and maturing sales funnels bringing in real income, so it's not surprising the issues of 'now what, so what, and what does this mean?' are cropping up.
Whether it's dozens of coaches finding Coaching Paychecks;
hundreds who are now working in 'regular' jobs using a Coaching Approach;
more coaching practices getting ready to hire, license, joint venture in big ways...and more...
don't anybody try to give me the 'woe is coaches story' without getting an earful!!
As for myself, I'm fanning the flames on that very suspicion:
FACT: Based on real-world work in the consulting arm of the biz, more and more Coaches are gaining a LOT of ground in terms of financial success, breaking down previously-delineated (imposed?) so-called 'financial benchmarks.'
We're talking about truly meaningful change being created in the lives of paying clients who in turn confidently and unhesitatingly evangelize coaching.
"Here to stay" six and seven figure success in many different niche areas.
I'm looking forward to publishing the fuller stories soon, but at the beginning of the year, I had to let slip just a bit, . I'm *that* tired of everyone quoting the 'all coaches earn no money' survey from a couple years ago and I'm looking forward to this being the year we shift from that self-imposed 'story' to another.
For now I'll say only that my research into lives of coaches who've previously been "too busy being successful to talk about it" - dovetails nicely with the Coaching Success book (in progress, cf: http://www.msoci.com/andrea/archives/491/index.html)
In the meantime, look around! How far we've come; how different the playing field is from just a wee while ago...
